Ecocide in Ukraine. Up to 80 settlements at risk of flooding

On June 6, Operational Command “South” reported that Russian troops had exploded the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Plant located in Kherson Region. Kherson regional military administration confirmed this information. The Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Plant cannot be restored. The head of Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, announced evacuation of people from the dangerous areas.

 

 

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, commented the explosion of the hydroelectric power plant:

The destruction of the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Plant is the biggest man-made disaster in the world in recent decades, which damages the environment and will negatively affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the years to come.
