According to an analysis by the Centre for Legal Resources of Moldova (CRJM), in 2024, Moldovan citizens will file three times more applications to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) than the European average.

At the same time, the number of applications decreased by 44 per cent compared to 2023.
According to CRJM, Moldova ranks 11th among Council of Europe member states in terms of the number of complaints lodged with the ECtHR. According to CRJM, from 1997 to date, Moldovan citizens have submitted 17,700 applications to the ECtHR and the Court has issued 616 judgements in Moldovan cases.
