Armenian women are conquering new horizons in the field of IT

I’m sure you’ve all heard James Brown’s world-famous song “This is a man’s world”, which, although it’s also a favorite of women, still evokes conflicting feelings, especially now.

Going forward, let’s note that in 1981 The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women entered into force, to which Armenia joined in 1993. The main objective of the Convention is to eliminate discrimination against women in political, economic, social, cultural or any other field.

The legal regulation of this issue had a very positive effect on the psychology of our society, because the issue also has a moral aspect, and the stereotypes rooted in our society slowed down the process of accepting women’s equal rights , IT, marketing, business, etc., etc. There are women in even the most impossible professions.

Today we want to talk about women who have achieved success in the IT sector, thanks to which one of the most sought-after sectors of the time continues to flourish in landlocked and landlocked RA.

Technologies have brought a new culture to Armenia, says the executive director of the GITC Gyumri Center and the Project Manager of the EIF Center, Armine Yeghyan, who claims that 70% of the employees in these organizations are women. Since 2017, the GITC Gyumri Center has been giving programming lessons to young people of the future To provide the main workforce of the IT sector. The regions are also planned to be developed within the framework of the project.

Women can influence, motivate and inspire their team. You have to smile even if it’s hard, because you have to take into account the big umbrella under which you work, Armenia. One of EIF’s successful projects is Engineering City, which was developed by EIF, the Government of Armenia, the World Bank and national instruments.

Next Businesswoman Gayane Ghandilyan-Arakelyan is the CEO of Digital Pomegranate, one of the world’s leading Flutter development agencies and one of the largest technology companies in Armenia, where more than 50 percent of employees and 70 percent of management are women. Arakelyan increased business growth by 32 percent after assuming the position of chief executive officer of Gyumri Digital Pomegranate company amid the epidemic.

As the company’s co-founder Tod Fabacher notes, resigning and appointing Arakelyan as the CEO was “the smartest business decision he made.” And the positive result did not wait. not only was growth secured, but the company also acquired two important clients: the Sony Music global ERP procurement system and the Australian government. He is proud that his company was a global sponsor of #Hack20 along with Google and eBay at the 2019 Seaside Startup Summit his women’s team finished 3rd.

Now Digital Pomegranate is developing business tourism in cooperation with other technology companies in Gyumri, its development agency Flutter, new guest house and cafe “Dart” in the heart of Gyumri are constantly creating new jobs for young people who can also join Digital in the future. To the Pomegranate team.

They are two of those women who are making history, conquering new horizons and most importantly, changing mindsets.

I would like to conclude the article with famous lines from my favorite song. “It’s a man’s world, but it’s nothing without women”.
