The role of human rights in the modern world
Lev Ponomarev Seminar
14 May, Wednesday, 18:30 – 20:30 📍Espace Libertés | Reforum Space Paris (https://maps.app.goo.gl/zbhfQVvYZoMJv38a9)

“… We begin our seminar in the days when the world is frozen in uncertainty – whether the fratricidal war unleashed by Russia on Putin’s orders will continue. Every day we learn from the news about yet another civilian casualty, the death of children. Human rights is not an ideology, it is an antidote to the apocalypse.
When bridges of trust collapse, when language becomes a weapon, when wars are called peacekeeping missions – the only universal moral language
is human rights.
In this seminar we will discuss whether human rights defenders can influence the peace talks. And what more needs to be done to encourage the international community to start peace talks. We will pay special attention to what can and should be done inside Russia to get Putin to the negotiating table without preconditions. Finally, we will discuss the role of human rights defenders in preventing wars and armed conflicts in the world in the future…”.
The second workshop will take place on 3 June
