About the death of 36-year-old Andrei Podnebenny reported yesterday his mother in the social network Facebook.

The cause of death of political prisoner Andrei Podnebennyy in Mahiliou colony No. 15 was suffocation, “Radio Svaboda” reports citing its own source.

Other circumstances of the death of the political prisoner are still unknown. Official sources in the security forces have not yet commented on the incident. The death of 36-year-old Andrei Podnebennyi was reported yesterday by his mother on Facebook. As she wrote, he died on 3 September.

Andrei Podnebenny, who has Russian citizenship but has been living in Belarus since six years and has a residence permit, was detained in November 2021. He was accused of setting fire to the car of the head of the Department of Corrections, puncturing the wheels of 39 trolleybuses, creating and administering a Telegram-channel and Telegram-chat, which are recognised as extremist formations. In a closed trial, he was awarded 15 years in a reinforced regime colony. Later, the political prisoner was tried again – the total sentence was 16 years and 8 months.
