Following the 26 October election, which was rigged, de facto Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he was suspending Georgia’s EU accession talks until 2028.

He also said that European politicians and bureaucrats use grants for blackmail, against the interests of Georgia.
These statements caused great indignation among the Georgian population and many thousands of absolutely peaceful, spontaneous rallies began. In order to disperse peaceful demonstrations, law enforcement agencies began to use tear gas, pepper spray, special water cannon, rubber bullets, batons and other means.
The vast majority of those affected are young people ( among them there are minors) because they are the ones who started the protests. Many tertiary institutions from school have gone on strike. Students and school children are participating in spontaneous rallies.
Despite the fact that the actions of the security forces are simply inhuman, the people of Georgia continue to protest every day and defend their European choice.
