Human Rights Day is celebrated annually around the world on 10 December.<\/h1>\n

It is timed to coincide with the date of adoption of one of the most significant global commitments in the world – the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<\/p>\n

The Declaration was adopted by the UN General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948. The Declaration articulated for the first time the fundamental human rights to be universally protected.<\/p>\n

As “a document whose principles are to be followed by all peoples and nations”, the Declaration is a global blueprint for international, national and local laws and policies. \u261d\ufe0fThe Declarationis translated more often than any other document in the world: its text exists in 577 languages.<\/p>\n
