The concepts of misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation were presented with simple and understandable examples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The most common manipulative methods were discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">fake headlines,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">photos taken out of context,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">presenting old photos as a new event,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">edited videos,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">fake quotes,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">Images created or modified by artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<div id=\"mep_0\" class=\"mejs-container wp-video-shortcode mejs-video\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"application\" aria-label=\"Video player\">\n<div class=\"mejs-inner\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"mejs-mediaelement\">\n<div style=\"width: 720px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-77230-1\" width=\"720\" height=\"1280\" loop preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_4.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_4.mp4\">https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_4.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mejs-layers\">\n<div class=\"mejs-overlay mejs-layer mejs-overlay-play\">\n<div class=\"mejs-overlay-button\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Play\" aria-pressed=\"false\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Special attention was paid to the fact that disinformation is often based on partial use of real facts, which is why it may seem credible at first glance.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\">How to protect yourself from misinformation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The next section presented <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">the basic steps of self-defense<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Check the source<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> to find out who the author of the publication is and whether it is a reliable media outlet or organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Compare information<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> with other sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Pay attention to the date<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> and context of publication.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Do not share material immediately<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> if it evokes a strong emotional response.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Try to find the original source<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> : an official statement, document, or original publication.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The participants found the idea that &#8220;if information makes you immediately angry, afraid, or hastily spread, you should first stop and check&#8221; to be particularly useful.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-video\">\n<p><span class=\"mejs-offscreen\"><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"mep_1\" class=\"mejs-container wp-video-shortcode mejs-video\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"application\" aria-label=\"Video player\">\n<div class=\"mejs-inner\">\n<div class=\"mejs-controls\">\n<div class=\"mejs-button mejs-volume-button mejs-mute\">\n<div style=\"width: 720px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-77230-2\" width=\"720\" height=\"1280\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_5.mp4?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_5.mp4\">https:\/\/humanrights-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/semin_5.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mejs-button mejs-fullscreen-button\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\">A practical introduction to fact-checking tools<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The most interesting and lively part of the seminar was about <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">fact-checking tools<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> . Through a practical demonstration, a number of available and free tools were presented that can be used not only by journalists, but also by any user.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The following tools and methods were presented:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Google Reverse Image Search<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> \u2013 to find the original source of photos,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">TinEye<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> \u2013 to check the history of image distribution,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">InVID<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> \u2013 for video footage analysis and verification,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Google Maps and Street View<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\"> \u2013 to compare the location of photos,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\">Basic principles <strong>of examining metadata and publication details .<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">During the practical exercises, the young people tried to independently verify several sample publications, find the real sources of the photos, and assess their reliability.
