I looked around and there was a guy catching up with me. He asked what I had been photographing, demanded I delete the photos. Some other guys came up, surrounded me. I tried to leave .. they followed demanding I take out my phone to delete the photos. I told them I was a journalist, I was reporting. They asked about my job, I showed my journalist card. They didn\u2019t let go at that, called me \u2018a leftie\u2019. I offered them to come up to Andriy Biletsky so that he could confirm that I am a journalist. They refused. <strong>One of them kicked my in a leg, another one\u00a0 punched me in the head and I fell\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Saturday rally brought together Andriy Biletsky\u2019s \u2018Natsionalny Korpus\u2019, Dmytro Yarosh\u2019s \u2018Derhzvnystka Initisiatyva\u2019, \u2018Svoboda\u2019 party and other nationalist groups to protest against recent \u2018repressions targeting Ukrainian nationalists\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Staged at the Ukrainian president\u2019s residence in Bankova Street, the gathering soon turned violent \u2013 clashes erupted soon after the protesters refused bag checks demanded by police. Kyiv police later informed seven cops and one National Guard were injured.<\/p>\n<p>The protest was also marred by the assault on the \u2018Bukvy\u2019 reporter Oleksandr Kuzenlnii.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bykvu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/16\/photo_2021-08-16-18.56.45.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"ru\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">On August 14, representatives of nationalist forces, including members of the far-right National Corps party, took part in a protest action in the center of Kiev.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"ru\" data-phrase-index=\"1\">The protesters, chanting anti-government slogans, reached the office of the President of Ukraine, where they clashed with the police.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe  id=\"_ytid_70156\"  width=\"2060\" height=\"1159\"  data-origwidth=\"2060\" data-origheight=\"1159\"  data-relstop=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jNBaaW7z5XA?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;rel=0&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=0&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;disablekb=0&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oleksandr Kuzhelnii also said that one of the attackers recognized him \u2013 he called out \u2018<strong>That\u2019s the guy \u2018Hans\u2019 beat the s*** out of\u2019, in a clear\u00a0 reference to Mykhail \u2018Hans\u2019 Shalankevich, a Russian ultra-Nazi radical,<\/strong> who attacked the reporter at the July rally protesting against the trial of Belarus anarchist Oleksiy Bolenkov.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers fled the scene when they saw approaching \u00a0photographers and reporters. \u2018<strong>Bukvy\u2019 reporter \u00a0sustained visible bruises<\/strong> and an ambulance was called to the site of the incident.
