IAC ISHR has received 20 applications from students, members of the European Law Students\u2019 Association (ELSA) organization from France, Lithuania, Sweden, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Greece, Georgia, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands, who wish to do an internship in a human rights organization.<\/p>\n
Recall that in 2021, a new project of the Information and Analytical Center of the International Society for Human Rights, dedicated to strengthening the rule of law in Armenia and Ukraine, was launched.\u00a0The project will last for two years and will focus on monitoring trials in both countries. An important area of \u200b\u200bthe project’s work is the educational component.<\/p>\n
In the context of the educational program of the IAC project, ISHR has already started cooperation with several Ukrainian higher education institutions and student organizations, including the international student organization ELSA.\u00a0A memorandum of cooperation between the two organizations was signed in 2021.<\/p>\n
The main objectives of the internship at ISHR is to establish interaction and exchange of experience between young professionals from different countries;\u00a0analysis of the situation in the courts of the countries of the Council of Europe;\u00a0expanding the practical application of international law in the field of human rights.<\/p>\n
In Ukraine, trainees will learn how to monitor court hearings according to the methodology developed by the IAC ISHR, and will conduct similar monitoring in their countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe methodology that ISHR uses to monitor trials is based on the practice of the ECtHR, and not on national law<\/em>,\u201d says Anton Alekseyev, director of the IAC ISHR. \u201cThis is not only an opportunity to attract students from around the world to internships in Ukraine, but also the development of the global idea of \u200b\u200bISHR \u2013 about the interaction of lawyers from different countries to protect human rights around the world<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier, the IAC ISHR tested this methodology in Ukraine, Armenia, Belgium and France.<\/p>\n As part of the internship, young lawyers will also take part in the preparation of the annual report \u201cThe Right to a Fair Trial in Ukraine\u201d in terms of the selection and analysis of ECtHR decisions that qualify human rights violations identified in Ukraine as violations of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.<\/p>\n \u201cWe highly appreciate the interest of future lawyers in working in the human rights field<\/em>,\u201d says Anton Alekseyev. –\u00a0\u00a0 It is no less pleasant that former students, who become scientists or practicing lawyers, continue to interact with a human rights organization.\u00a0For example, last year’s trainee, who is now doing her postgraduate studies in London, took part in the preparation of the intervention in the cases \u201cMelnyk v. Ukraine\u201d and \u201cViktor Fedorovich Yanukovych v.
