Humanitarian aid for Belarusians was collected by German participants of the\u00a0 \u00a0IGFM<\/span>\u2014Wittlich\u00a0<\/span><\/a> organisation<\/h1>\n

On 15 June 2025, a fully loaded truck with 90 cubic metres of humanitarian aid arrived at the warehouse of the human rights organisation \u2018Our House\u2019 near Vilnius. The cargo – 15 tonnes of clothes, furniture, household items and school supplies – was collected by IGFM-Wittlich in Germany and is now being distributed among Belarusian and Ukrainian refugees in Lithuania.<\/p>\n

That morning, more than 30 Belarusians from Vilnius gathered to unload the lorry. In just two and a half hours – from 9:00 to 11:30 – the work was completed and a new organisational record was set. Everyone managed to get there just in time for the start of the weekly action of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners on Kudirki Square.<\/p>\n

The humanitarian aid was collected by Our Home’s long-standing German partners, the IGFM-Wittlich regional group. In addition to 15 tonnes of clothes, shoes, bed linen, kitchen utensils and furniture, the shipment also included toys and school supplies worth 500 euros for the summer camp and the upcoming school year. Bicycles were also donated for the needs of the organisation’s office in Vilnius.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2018It is encouraging to see that many Belarusians have not forgotten the 2020 spirit of solidarity and still want to help others,\u2019 says Katya, an activist of the organisation. – “It would be impossible to sort out and distribute such a huge amount of aid alone – but we have amazing volunteers who are always ready to help. For people fleeing the Belarusian regime in Lithuania or Poland with only one set of clothes and documents, access to basic things – clothes, food – can be vital.”<\/p>\n

The situation is particularly difficult for Belarusian refugees, who receive virtually no institutional support. This has already led to suicides and many other tragedies. This is why the support of our German partners from IGFM-Wittlich is so important. They do everything possible to ensure that refugees from Belarus and Ukraine do not feel forgotten, invisible or desperate.<\/p>\n
