Since April 2022, the death penalty can also be imposed for \u201cattempting to commit a terrorist act\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"atc-SubHeadline\">What is Kolesnikov?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"atc-TextParagraph\">The ISHR criticized the actions of the ruler Aleksandr Lukashenko after the presidential election in August 2020, in which the European Union&#8217;s foreign policy representative, <a class=\"rtr-entity\" title=\"Joseph Borrell\" href=\"https:\/\/www-faz-net.translate.goog\/aktuell\/politik\/thema\/josep-borrell?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=ru&amp;_x_tr_hl=ru&amp;_x_tr_pto=wapp\" data-rtr-id=\"1ecc1b40106c799ba43faf36808131933685040a\">Josep Borrell<\/a> , saw &#8220;massive fraud&#8221; on the part of the regime. &#8220;With the help of the dictatorial regimes of Russia and Iran, long-term dictator Lukashenko is wiping out critical and independent civil society in Belarus,&#8221; ISHR fears.<\/p>\n<p class=\"atc-TextParagraph\">The ISHR emphasized that there had been no sign of life from the imprisoned opposition member Maria Kolesnikova for six months. The human rights organization also points to the opposition figures Sergei Tichanowski and Viktor Babariko, who have \u201cdisappeared\u201d for weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"atc-TextParagraph\">According to ISHR, since the &#8220;false presidential elections&#8221; in Belarus three years ago, the suppression of the democracy movement has reached unimaginable proportions.
